Cycling to Australia
Emily joined the King’s College staff in September 2019 after a year out from teaching spent “Cycling to Australia”. In a journey that covered 3 continents, 21 countries and over 21000km of every type of road imaginable, more than anything the take home message was how much warmth and kindness there is in the world, and the amazing people you meet when you stray off the beaten track.
This is meant to be a talk that tells you just a little about how to prepare (or not!) for a gap year or adventure of any sort, why Goethe was right when he said the best education is to be found in travel, and only a tiny bit about bicycles.
