CJ Albery

BMus, Exeter University, Deputy Head (Co-Curricular) and Director of Music

Colin Albery was born and raised in Reading but since reading music at Exeter University in the early 80s has stayed firmly in the West Country. His first appointment as Head of Strings enabled him to continue his musical links with the area and he played violin for many years in the South West Mozart Players as well as indulging in his other passion as a jazz pianist in various big bands and smaller ensembles. He was appointed Head of Instrumental Music at King's College a few years later and has been Director of Music for the past eleven years allowing him the opportunity to follow many musical paths including choral music, music technology and instrumental music in all its forms as well as playing the violin and jazz piano in local bands and ensembles. He teaches music technology and some GCSE and A level and also conducts various ensembles including the chapel choir, orchestra, big band, and chamber choir. He is also the Deputy Head Co-Curricular and overseas and develops the broad range of co-curricular activities on offer at King's.
