Care and support for pupils is seen as one of the strongest and most valued aspects of King’s. The basis of the pastoral care system is rooted in the seven houses; each pupil is allocated a tutor in their house for the first three years. In the sixth form pupils choose their tutor [all staff are tutors].

Tutors are concerned with the general welfare and progress of pupils. Monitoring work is a key role – discussions centre on regular internal assessments where detailed comments and grades for effort are produced for each subject. Tutors also play a key role in careers advice at all stages of a pupil’s life. Regular meetings for staff and parents are held to discuss a pupil’s progress from the first year onwards.
