boarding and day

Your house is a vital base at school. It is where you work, sleep and play. It is your family base in a new school. Here you will find the wisdom of the years above you to help with Physics prep or how to tackle something that has been worrying you.

It is much more than a place to hang your hat and coat - it offers individual personal space to day and boarding pupils alike. Friendships will be forged both inside and outside your house but much of the sense of belonging will come from the special relationships and lessons of life which are forged when living and learning in a boarding community. Whether you just stay over on occasional nights as a day pupil or board, what one parent describes as ‘the King’s community spirit’ is there for you.

A change of scene is also important and it is at weekends that house activities offer a break from school routine. Lukewarm burgers and videos with your housemaster pale into insignificance next to the current appetite for white knuckle rides at Alton Towers and Thorpe Park, and the variety of weekend trips such as Go-Karting, Ice Skating, Dry Slope Skiing, Quad Biking, Paint Balling and Retail Therapy amongst many others!

You will discover your houses also has its own distinct charity, social and cultural events. You could find yourself playing hockey with a broom and a cabbage as a ball while dressed as Lara Croft or competing in a speed pasty eating contest. Sleeves will be rolled up for Barn Dances and rolled down for formal Dinner Dances.
