Meynell Alfred Show

Two houses at King's teamed up to present a charity cabaret evening to mark the end of term. Girls from Meynell House and boys from King Alfred House put on a highly entertaining hour and a half of songs, dances and sketches, compered by one of the two school captains Gareth Snell and vice-captain Rachel Holloway.

Highlights of the evening were the famous Monty Python Yorkshiremen sketch, a take-off of Little Britain, 'It's the hard-knock life' from the musical 'Annie', and the house staff dance from 'Oliver'.

The evening raised over £1200 for KCAP, a charity venture planned for this coming summer holidays. Eight pupils and two staff from King's are flying out to southern India, to build a house for a family of four in a small village called Kavalam in the province of Kerala.

Heading the project is housemaster of Bishop Fox House at King's Ollie Lloyd. "We're really grateful to the other two houses for raising so much money for us. It's a tremendously exciting project, but it's going to need an enormous fund-raising effort over the next few months."
