County cricket champions

The King's College side, led by Jos Buttler, a full member of the Somerset Cricket Academy, played Backwell School , from North Somerset near Bristol, and in a high-scoring game eventually came out winners by 54 runs.
Jos Buttler led from the front with a captain's innings, scoring an exhilarating 120 and sharing a second-wicket partnership of 179 with Ross Chadwick who finished with 68, as King's posted a formidable 234 for 5 in their 35 overs.
Backwell's reply found stiff resistance from James Scanlan who bowled a miserly spell of six overs, and William Hardwick who took two wickets in two balls at a crucial time. Backwell were always behind the run rate, and their innings closed on 180 for 7.
The winners became the third team from King's to be crowned county champions this year. The girls 1st XI hockey side beat Millfield in their final, and the boys Under 16 hockey team overcame Wellington back in February.
The cricketers go on to represent Somerset in the national stages of the Lord's Taverners Competition next summer, with the final held at Trent Bridge in July.
