Earliest memory

Walking into Meynell study first day full of boys and just the two of us girls Penel and myself. It went completely silent as we shuffled to the last two vacant desks. Then suddenly all hell let loose.

Favourite moment of the school day was going to tea with lessons done for the day catching up with the other girls with soggy toast and cakes in that Harry Potter dining room before Harry Potter even existed.

We were the first ever Ten Tors team of just girls. We were told that they gave up one of their teams to the girls and so we just had to all complete the course, blisters and twisted ankles we soldiered on to get the whole team round in the time, failing was not an option or else no girls' team would ever be submitted again.

I did a BEd degree when I left and moved to London to start my own business with a school friend from Taunton. After marrying Mark Adkins I eventually returned to Taunton, started teaching again, and have been taking King's Touch Typing classes for about 30 years. So I have watched the many changes which have happened to my school, however the Dining Hall, I am glad to say, is just the same .
