Eva O’Connor is an Irish writer and performer based in London.

During her time studying English and German at Edinburgh University Eva founded Sunday’s Child Theatre Company, and has since written and produced five plays with the company.

In 2012 Eva won the NSDF award for Best Emerging Artist with her play Kiss Me and You Will See How Important I Am. Her one woman show My Name is Saoirse won the First Fortnight Award at the Dublin Fringe 2014, and the Argus Angel at the Brighton Fringe 2015. Eva performed the play at Edinburgh’s Assembly Hall as part of the Edinburgh Fringe through August of this year and will be taking the production on a regional tour of Ireland in Oct/Nov. Eva also adapted My Name is Saoirse for RTE Radio 1, which broadcast in their Drama On One slot in April 2015.

Eva was part of the Traverse young writers group and selected for the Traverse 50 in 2014. Her play Overshadowed, about a young girl’s struggle with anorexia, premiered at the The Tiger Dublin Fringe in September 2015 and won the Fishamble New Writing Award. Overshadowed started 2016 at Projects Art Centre, Dublin and Theatre 503, London. It was performed as part of the Edinburgh Fringe 2016 and Eva adapted it into an 8 x 10′ series for BBC3, with Hildegard Ryan. It was subsequently nominated for a 2018 Rose d’Or Award. Eva and Hildegard’s next play The Friday Night Effect premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe 2017 and the tv series is currently in development with Mam Tor Productions.

Eva’s play Maz and Bricks, commissioned by Fishamble Theatre Company opened at the Project Arts Centre in Dublin on 25th April 2017. In 2018 the production went on a tour of Ireland and then to the Edinburgh Fringe and, following a very successful run in New York during January 2020, was nominated for four Origin Irish Awards.

In 2018 Eva was named as one of Broadcast’s Hot Shots, which celebrated the outstanding work of women under 30 making waves in the TV industry.
