History of Science
Science is one of mankind’s greatest success stories. The urge to discover and explain has driven this species towards an ever-more detailed understanding of the underlying structures of the physical world and this in turn has fuelled, in the past three hundred years, an astonishing explosion of technological progress.
Richard Biggs studied physics at Cape Town University and maths and philosophy at Oxford. His talk will cover the full range of the history of science, from early fumblings to the glory of CERN.
