1 Year GCSE Programme

King's College has developed a new opportunity for international students to join its Fifth Form (Year 11) and complete GCSE qualifications in a number of subjects in one year.

Students who complete the course and gain sufficiently high grades will be able, if they want to, to stay on and join the school's outstanding Sixth Form to study A levels.

The Fifth Form programme will be restricted to a maximum of 14 overseas students. Two students will join each of the school's seven boarding houses and will be wholly integrated into the rich life of a busy boarding school.

Important features of the new course

Students will take six GCSE courses in:

  • Mathematics
  • English (An IGCSE in English as a Second Language and/or an IELTS qualification)
  • Two sciences (students will choose two of biology, chemistry and physics)
  • A modern language
  • Economics

Students will be expected to play a full part in the co-curricular life of the school, with opportunities including:

  • A wide range of sporting activities
  • Music
  • Drama
  • Outdoor pursuits
  • Cadet Force or community service
